Laura Ozak, RN, JD

Laura Ozak is an experienced birth trauma, medical malpractice, elder abuse, and personal injury attorney.


Laura grew up in a working class neighborhood on the northwest side of Detroit, Michigan. In 1976 she started undergraduate studies at the University of Michigan in Ann Arbor. It was there that she discovered that she wanted to become a registered nurse – so she transferred to Eastern Michigan University where she obtained her Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) in 1982.

From 1982 – 1994, Laura worked as a Critical Care Registered Nurse (CCRN) in Michigan, Hawaii and California. Laura views nurses as the eyes, ears, and voice of patients. In 1990, Laura decided to obtain a law degree to enhance her ability to advocate for patients. While working as a CCRN in San Francisco, she attended law school at Golden Gate University in downtown San Francisco from 1991 to 1994.


In 1994, she became licensed in California and began her career as a lawyer working with victims of medical malpractice throughout the State of California.


In 2003, after her family moved to Honolulu, Hawaii, she began working for the prestigious civil litigation firm of Cronin, Fried, Sekiya, Kekina & Fairbanks.



In 2013, Laura followed her dream and opened her own law practice. Laura’s nursing background gives her a unique perspective on cases. She is committed to ensuring that health care providers and businesses that injure members of our community through their negligent and intentional acts, be held accountable for their conduct. Laura is a relentless and tenacious advocate for victims and their families.
